Erica Campbell Warns Christian Artistes “Don’t Get Caught Up In Road Life”

It can get lonely on the road for Christian artists, evangelists, and traveling professionals. But, recently, while all alone in her hotel room after completing a gig, Erica Campbell of Mary Mary took to Instagram to send out some strong cautionary words: don’t get caught up in road life.

According to the wife and mother of three, it takes maturity, knowing oneself and a healthy understanding of how to compartmentalize life, to overcome the temptations that accost many gifted would-be loyal followers of Christ’s teachings.

“The irony of screaming adoring fans and a very quiet hotel room can be devastated if you don’t know who you really are. The noise of life can drown out the sound of your heart and soul, if you LET it,” she wrote in a 2-part message.

“I know who I am, I know who I’m not and I know the difference between the 2. While I enjoy the love from fans I understand the nature of that Love, but I also know who I am when no one is around.”

But for some, Campbell suggested, the line of demarcation between stage life and real life gets blurred, leaving performers wanting constant adulation, praise and the company of fans and followers.
How to get over this?

“You must accept the reality of being alone when you put the mic down take a bow blow kisses to your wonderful loving fans the lights go out and your alone,” she advised. “So the choice is yours to feed the beast that loves the screams and needs them 24/7,” or, as she does, bask in the quiet time.

Campbell, who is fulfilling a grueling schedule as an upstart solo artist, continued by asking, “Do you embrace alone time or fill it with noise, people, sex, drinking, fake friends, etc because you fear being alone?”

The “Little More Jesus” singer then added, “But if you have God your never really alone.”

Before concluding the lengthy message, the WE TV reality star also gave out a direct warning. “My road people, keep your eyes open to the enemies devices, don’t get caught up in ‘road life, road lovers, road fun..’ The enemy will put you in a trick bag and before you know it your Caught up in the Turn up!!”

Avoid this, she said, by doing the following:

“Be quiet, think, pray listen to God, grow, mature & chill, read, learn.”
