Widely known as a tomboy, Nikki Laoye decided to turn it up a notch to express the different sides to her personality and fashion style.

Spirit of David celebrates 20 years of being together as a family and dance crew today 20th April 2017. The group shared with excitement the achievement on both their Instagram and Facebook accounts,

“Today we celebrate @spiritofdavidgdc at 20! After 94 shows and counting worldwide, we thank God for the souls saved, friendships forged, businesses born, families built and lives forever changed by this simple call to dance like David danced: with all his might!

To a club that has stood the test of time simply because it seeks to follow the instruction of God and not of man, Happy 20th! Here’s to 20 more powerful years of moving mountains in the name of the Lord. Salut!“

Spirit of David (SOD) was born in O.A.U, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. It began in April 1997. It came to Pastor Segun Lawal in the shower. Later that night at a fellowship meeting, he made an announcement asking all those interested in joining a dance school to put down their names and about two hundred people signed up. The first meeting was called but only seven people showed up that rainy Friday night

November 27, 1997,  the very first Spirit of David show – UNORTHODOX – was held at the Amphi Theatre of the O.A.U and over 3,000 students were crammed into the hall with bated breath, for the first dance to start. The crowd of students grew by the minute. This was the first time a God based group was ticketing for a program.

The show lasted for just one hour. An alter call was made after the last dance of the night and about 80 people surrendered their lives to Jesus. Many joined the club that day and the fame of this crazy set of young people who love God and love dance began to spread like wild fire across the whole campus and beyond.

It has been 20 years since Spirit of David began. In that time, so much has happened. The club has grown from one branch to twelve other locations around Nigeria and the world. Members have increased from seven in Ife to over a thousand. There are 300 active members across the branches worldwide.

Spirit of David has hosted 95 shows to-date in over 44 cities around the world!

In 2001 SOD began her 1st tour, the 12 state road tour as the first one was called saw over 50 of her members visiting 12 different states in Nigeria including Zamfara, Enugu, Akwa-ibom, Kaduna and Kwara.

In 2007 and 2009, Spirit of David produced a TV show that saw Nigerian celebrities pair up with SOD instructions to present a vast range of dances under intriguing themes. Well over 13 million people were said to have watched the two award winning seasons!

In Spirit of David, young adolescents have grown into fully matured men and women. For the last 20 years, youth brimming with untapped potential and sometimes misguided exuberance have been welcomed into the club.

The constant discipline of learning and executing various dances, organizing shows in several locations, raising funds, praying and fellow-shipping frequently and being accountable to others on and off stage have all produced erstwhile adult citizens of the nation.

Members, who joined since inception, are now at management levels in their various careers outside the club and are also parents of young teens. They are however still active in dance and administrative duties of the club.

Spirit of David every year admits over 30 new young people into the club, from teenagers to young adults looking for a place to belong, grow, change and learn to make a difference. SOD has become home to them and continues to be a close knit family of like passionate people who are imbibing leadership and follower-ship principles as well as forming lifelong friendships and partnerships.

Isabella is a devoted wife, dedicated mother of four, gifted songwriter, anointed psalmist, worship leader, author, speaker and a multiple award-winning Gospel recording artiste whose music ministry has impacted the lives of many people globally.

In 2009, she officially changed her stage name to Isabella Melodies and released her debut album “Lost Without You.” Today, Isabella has become a well-respected voice in the Gospel Music ministry, releasing five excellent albums both in the United Kingdom and Nigeria.

Gospel music phenomenon OluwaShalom has taken every one aback after a number of her breathtaking feats but you cannot guard yourself enough against the shock waves she is about to send into the air!

Olorunfemi “OluwaShalom” Shalom is best known for the smash hit “Eledumare” off her first album released in 2016 from the stable of House One Music Label, owned by Femi “Bricks” Amida. She was born on the 14th of May, 1986. She hails from Kogi State, Nigeria. She studied Industrial Chemistry at Olabisi Onabanjo University, and also went through a Diploma Programme in Music Technology at The Polytechnic of Ibadan.

She was a finalist in the First season of Destiny Child Gospel Music Talent Hunt in 2013. Oluwashalom has 3 videos to her credit; “Song in the Night”, “Prayer” and “Eledumare”.

OluwaShalom has hinted about the release of a single, alongside its lyrics video off the album “Eledumare”. ‘Lamb Of God’ features popular Nigerian Gospel Artist Onos Ariyo and was produced by Juzzypro.

The build up of excitement as Pastor Travis Greene made his debut at The Experience 2016 was not let down for one moment… Not before his Ministration, not when he led us in awesome praise and worship, as we sang along to his hit songs that have now become our anthem and testimony… Not even when he stepped down after his ministration!

And up until now and for a long time to come, we’re as excited to be a part of his joys & laughter and for having him grace our stage in Lagos, Nigeria.

You are right if you say Minister Travis Greene has been a miracle from birth.

Born in Delaware, USA in January 1984, he was born as a still-birth but was resuscitated and died again at the age of four after a fall from a four-storey building but was yet again miraculously resuscitated after his mother called on the name and Blood of Jesus over and over until he came back to life.

Travis now resides in Columbia, South Carolina, where he pastors a church, Forward City together with his wife, Jackie. Prior to moving to Columbia, Travis was the worship leader at Forest Hill Church, Charlotte, North Carolina.

He began his music career in 2007 with the release of his debut single, The More. Subsequently, his studio album, Stretching Out was released in  June, 2010. The songs, “Still Here” and “Prove My Love”, both charted on the Billboard magazine Top Gospel Songs chart, at peaks of Nos. 17 and 29, respectively. He released, an extended play, Intentional, on August 21, 2015, with its song, “Intentional”, peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard magazine Top Gospel Songs chart.

What a great way to wrap up The Experience 2016, with a power-packed ministration from the veteran Tope Alabi. Her debut appearance at the World renowned Gospel Concert was all shades of amazing as people from various tribes sang and danced as she ministered.

Tope Alabi was awarded Good Tidings Ambassador on the 21st of August 2016. She has also received a Proclamation Award from New York State Senate for her dedication to the betterment of her community on October 9th 2016.

Her record label is called Tope Alabi Gospel Vibes ltd. She was the only daughter out of the three children in her family, a graduate of Mass Communication at the Polytechnic, Ibadan and graduated in 1990.

She worked briefly with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Ibadan as a correspondent and NTA Channel 7 Tejuosho (Now NTA Channel 10, Lagos).

We have missed Cece greatly at The Experience and last Friday, she brought it on! We were not left behind as we joined her in hearty worship and praise to the Most High. We emptied all of our hearts and all of the fragrance left in our Alabaster Boxes at the Lord’s feet and we witnessed His Glory come down!

We stay amazed at her vocal dexterity, and like we say within the team, Cece just never grows old… LOL. Together with the Legend, Donnie Mcclurkin, Cece Winans urged the crowd to keep their lights shining, piercing through the darkness and shining on…

Cece Winans has had her fair share of triumphs, accolades, industry recognition and significant coverage in the press. She is a multiple Grammy, Stellar and Dove awards winner. She has several albums that are platinum and gold certified, including several of those albums she recorded as part of the wave making duo of Bebe & Cece Winans.

“When you’re in the throne room, your focus is just God. Nothing’s more powerful than that. When you do other music — positive music, gospel, inspirational, whatever you want to name it — you’re teaching lessons to other people, which is still very important. But nothing is more powerful than when you’re face to face with God.”

Gabriel Eziashi’s drive and fervour for the art of worship has made him one of the most compelling voices to emerge from the UK gospel scene. A prolific songwriter and a dynamic singer with a phenomenal voice range, the veteran took us step by step through a mix of the old and new school, a blend of worship and high praise and everything in between.

Born in Lagos Nigeria, Min Gabriel is the fifth in a family of seven siblings. His humble beginnings saw him start work at the young age of 5 to help bring an income and food to the family table.

His passion for music saw him start up as a dancer, before discovering his vocal gifting.

In 1993 he was led to Christ and has never looked back. Today, he is husband to Stella Oludayo Eziashi, his wife of over 17 years and mother to their two beautiful- children Bryana and Yannis.

Gabriel has been involved in the UK gospel music scene for over twenty years, and he’s presently the Worship Pastor at Household of Faith, Arlington, TX. USA.
