The 21st of November 2014 was a memorable night for a lot of people, as Joshua Ville, the youth church of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), City of David Parish hosted the 6th edition of her annual Night of Worship, also known as N.O.W.

I got to the concert ground at about 5:50pm for a program that was scheduled for 9pm. I found a sit at the second roll after the reserved VIP seats, and I had a good time chilling for the program.

At about 9pm, the program started (showing integrity) with a Call to Worship, opening prayer, and over an hour of African and Contemporary praise & worship section from the host choir, The Psalmists.

Besides the ministration of The Psalmists and City of David choir, the first guest minister was Enitan Adaba, who was featured in Nathaniel Bassey’s hit worship song “Imela”.

Right after her ministration came the Psalmists with the theme song of the event ‘Great and Mighty God’, which would be recorded and released on air soon, so watch out!

Now

The ‘man of the hour’ came up as soon as the Psalmists were done ministering and I’m talking of no other than Tye Tribbett. The anchor of the event referred to him as the “Big fish” (LOL) who flew for 13 hours in the air all the way from the US to Nigeria. While his instrumentalists were setting up, the crowd couldn’t wait to have him and so the chant began “Tye!!!! Taye, where are you? Taye, we are waiting for you ooo Tye! Taye!!”

And sooner than we expected, his back up singers ran out, and of course, he did same, and started off with the song “Bless the Lord”, then moved to “Son of man” (led by his back-up vocalist). I can tell you that Tye knows how to get the hearts of his audience. Thereafter, He sang “You are everything”.

Right on stage, he saw some guys lifting up chairs to the ‘oh oh oh oh’ part of the song, which inspired him so greatly. “I see those chairs up,” he gladly said, and then climbed down and grabbed one for himself and in few seconds 75% of the audience had their chairs up (influence). He had all engrossed in the songs “What can I do?”, followed by “Everything” (led by his back up singer), “Lord of all” which seemed to hit the heavens so hard that the Spirit of God got almost everyone praying and speaking in unknown tongues. One of his back up vocalist took up the song “You are good and your mercy is forever” (oh, how beautiful that song is). The flow moved unto the songs “I Love you,” “Glory to God,” and then “He turned it.”

He said and I quote, “I can’t come to Lagos without dancing,” and there was a high tempo praise break for 10 minutes or more with a plastic seat on his hand and again the crowd followed, and all we could see were chairs in the air. When we thought his ministration was over we heard the song “If He did it before,” and everyone screamed (and I knew people were wondering what part of his ministrations made him hang in the air… Lol. It was in the song “Same God”. “…and yes I may fall, and get knocked down to the ground (they all went down), I know I will rise up”. That was the part he jumped and you could notice his back-up vocalists were also in the air, but of course, not as high as Tye Tribbett. He said his usual “We got to go” and left the stage few minutes later. He kept saying “God bless Lagos” throughout his ministration, and acknowledged the fact that Nigeria is a praying nation. Indeed, Tye is a minister, whew! We perfectly enjoyed his 70 minutes on stage as he shared some deep stuffs too.

BJ Sax came up next and trust me when I say it was an awesome time in the presence of God.

Tasha! Tasha! Minister Tasha Cobbs came up and charged the atmosphere for another one hour. She is indeed a woman of the spirit. She ministered from deep within her. She kind of has this ‘healing smile,’ asides her laughter during ministrations. It was an hour of refreshing as she connected with her audience and we all her had a wonderful time. Asides the song “Break Every Chain” another song that ministered to me was “Put A Praise On It”. Beautiful song! She made an altar call as regarding people who needed healing in areas of their lives. Her ministration was awesome, I must confess.

Up next was Sonnie Badu from Ghana and as is the custom at every N.O.W. event, the amazing thing about this man is that he sang in Igbo and Yoruba so fluently that at a point I became ashamed of myself because I couldn’t sing half of the songs he sang. He was given the opportunity to make the alter call and people rushed out to give their lives to Christ, which is the whole essence of gathering in the Name of the Lord.

Sonnie Badu

It was no doubt, a wonderful time in the presence of God. I practically would say lives were changed and transformed. Oh, the Scriptures were fulfilled. Jesus was lifted up on high, and He drew His people closer to Himself.
