We all know how rich people are at advantage over poor people, for very obvious reasons, so that’s ok.
However is there anything the poor have as advantage over the rich?
YES THERE ARE!!! If you have not faced adversity, you are facing one, or you will, one day, face one.
Poor people are stronger during adversities because they’ve had a lot of practice.
Poor people are less likely to be wasteful.
The lavish extravagance of the rich is really often needless.
While the rich have to grapple with not TRUSTING IN THEIR RICHES, the poor doesn’t have such battles.
“Listen, my dear brothers and sisters: Has not GOD chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom HE promised those who love HIM?”-James 2:5.
How often do we use dishonest people as models for church people simply because they have money?
“Better to be poor and honest than to be dishonest and rich.”-Proverbs 28:6.
It is easier for a poor man to share his ‘agege’ bread with his brother, than for a rich man to share his Bentley with his brother.
The golden rule, Love your neighbor as yourself (Mark 12:31). Poor people don’t have to keep up with the Joneses, they can’t afford to even if they want to,
Hence poor people learn to have SIMPLE DESIRES and SIMPLE PLEASURES, than their richer counterparts.
(The church should be teaching people to have simple desires, and pleasures). Extreme wealth and extreme poverty is corrosive to the soul.
“Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread.”-Proverbs 30:8
