Jesus, How Could You? – Written by @OpeWalker

Here’s the scene, Jesus was crucified, buried and rose from the dead.

Now, He  is meeting with his guys, his buddies, giving them last minute instructions; like your Mum does, when she’s leaving you in charge of your siblings.

“Don’t forget Kade’s medications”

“When Jude’s hungry, heat the pasta in the microwave”.

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations……… teaching them to observe all things……. and, Lo, I am with you always” Matthew 28 :19-20 KJV

A little back story,

The Jews were not happy with this Jesus guy. He came and told them that their precious “laws were fulfilled in Him”.

Heck yeah! Joseph’s son, the carpenter? how dare He? Plus, He did nothing about the Romans, instead, He would say

“a centurion had great faith”

He deserved to die, for such blasphemies. No pity.

Mary, I know you had kept the law since birth, but you see, this ‘son’ of yours is a liar. We love you and I’m sure you understand that we have to ‘deal’ with anyone who blasphemes the name of YHWH.

“But Mary treasured all these things in her heart”

Then one of Jesus’ pals, sells him out to the people who really wanted Him dead, and like a ‘sheep is silent before his shearers’ He did not even defend himself.

Although “He was buried with the rich”, He still died. “The Lord of glory died and stayed dead for 3days”

So you know, on the day He said He would rise, none of his friends kept watch at the tomb. You know how you anticipate the latest model of a device, or the new episode of your favourite t.v series?,

Jesus’ friends had not have half of that enthusiasm. So when he needed them most, they were locked up in a room, fearful for their lives.

Finally, they get the courage to be seen publicly with Him after his death and resurrection and He says “He has to go to the Father”.

While they were mourning that He has to go away , Jesus says the famous words

“and, lo, I am with you always”

I raised my hand for a question… I say ” Jesus, how could you? Are you toying with our emotions? Why would you say ‘you’re leaving us,  then tell us you would ‘be with us always’ I can’t believe this

Jesus smiles, because He sees my anguish.

Someone else from the back-row cant hold it back “Jesus, like always, always?” they probably had resigned themselves to fate

Jesus says “yes, always, always”

But how? I didn’t even voice it out, but Jesus, who “knows the thoughts and intents of hearts”, Jesus who “has nothing hidden from him”,  answered me like we were the only two people In the world

” I am sending you the Comforter, the Spirit of Truth, who will teach you all things”
