Chris Tomlin’s “Good Good Father” Wins #SongOfTheYear In BMI Christian Awards

Last Tuesday 20th of June 2017, the Nashville offices of Broadcast Music Incorporated (BMI Awards) recognized writers and publishers of the biggest songs on Christian radio.

This worldwide performing rights organization are known to collect royalties for songwriters in all genres.

Chris Tomlin’s popular single “Good Good Father,” came out as The Song of the Year. The song was written by Tony Brown and published by Capitol CMG Paragon and Common Hymnal Digital.

Bernie Herms was named Songwriter of the Year, as he had contributed in four of the organization’s top Christian songs in the last year: “Christ In Me,” “Just Be Held,” “Tell Your Heart to Beat Again” and “Thy Will.”

The songs were all published by Capitol CMG Publishing, thereby making them take home the award for ‘Publisher of the Year’.

The company includes publishers Capitol CMG Paragon, Meaux Mercy Publishing, Songs of Universal, Inc., Sparrow Song, Universal Music-Brentwood Songs and Worship Together Music.

With 14 recognized songs, Capitol CMG can claim ownership of more than half of BMI’s class of 2017.
