ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Oluwapelumi Togun also known as “GudVybz”, an amazing lyricist, songwriter and singer comes with this new sound for all lovers of “gud” music. His dexterity with ‘rapping on the drums’ singled him out from the 36 finalists that emerged in the 2008 edition of Star Quest where his team ‘Da Heritage band’ won the fiercely contested ‘1st runner-up’ spot. ‘Pelumi actually blazed a trail with rap on StarQuest, a feat that paved way for rappers that came subsequently on the show.
He’s made an indelible statement on the secular Nigerian music scene with his 2009 single “Sho Njo Nkan” featuring ace producer/singer K-Solo and his ‘homeboi’ Jay Moni, an afrobeats uptempo dance number that was well received at home and in the diaspora.
After a life-changing decision on total commitment to his faith, GudVybz turned his incredible gift towards gospel hip-hop (as callings are redirected, not changed), shifting his focus towards the edification of God alone, which he explains as a cause worth living for. He has thereafter had some collaborations and released a couple of singles including “No Oda Luv” and “Beyond The Hills”.
