EVENT: Shout Of Purity 2015, @MINEministry Celebrates Virginity Day (June 13)

nosum

Oh! I’ve heard and witnessed a lot of criticisms concerning this day. Several people think it’s hypocrisy, I mean, what’s the big deal about virginity that you have to advocate it so loudly? A lot of others think it’s pride and arrogance while some actually think it’s lack of foresight and deliberate exposure to danger;  all of you so young and vibrant yet you announce WITH YOUR OWN MOUTHS to the world (that’s not smiling) out there that you’re a virgin- what a direct ticket for rapists and other not-so-nice people to take advantage of!

Yet, we’ve seen smiles on the faces of people (both old and young), we’ve received pats on our backs and lots of commendations saying, “you’re doing a great job, well done!”.

I think it basically depends on the way we look at it. As the saying goes, “if we look at a cup as half-full rather than half-empty, the world would be a happier place to live in”.

Virginity day is a day set aside, YEARLY to celebrate people who have succeeded in keeping themselves pure (that is, abstained from all forms of sexual activity) as well as to encourage those who (at one point or the other) have lost their virginity. Talk about a two-edged sword!

If the world celebrates best-friends’ day, workers’ day and the likes, then, it really is a big deal to celebrate these young people who have decided to keep themselves and wait patiently for the prestige that comes with keeping oneself for that special someone. Not with all the mess the world is getting into!

However, just as mothers’ day celebration is not only meant for those who have given birth to a lot of kids but aspiring mothers and those who have dedicated their lives to nurturing other people’s kids…

Just as mothers’ day is not to ridicule those who the world has termed barren but to give them hope, we bring hope to you who are on the verge of letting go of that precious gift you have (your virginity) for something that (no matter how lovely it looks now) isn’t worth it.

You are not in it alone, you’re not the last virgin alive!

We bring hope to you also who have messed up, somehow. You’re no longer a virgin, biologically, very true! You can however decide to remain sexually pure till marriage and God will honor you for it…

Together, let’s bring it back- that heritage that seems to be lost and archaic.  The thing is, you don’t have to do so much; getting a group of teenagers and young children around you and enlightening them about sexual purity will go a long way. Even, talking to that friend of yours or colleague won’t do any harm.

Any effort at all to enlighten one more soul about the beauty of sexual purity ultimately makes you a part of the celebration! You never can tell whose destiny is being rebuilt.

It’s countdown to Virginity Day 2015 again and Yes! We’ll get mocking eyes and noses and whatever else can be used to mock.
We’ll get disapproving faces
We’ll get bewildered eyes and all

But! Lives will be changed
And we won’t stop
Till the world knows
And understands, the essence of sexual purity!
