The maiden edition of the Annual Ghana Gospel Music Awards (GGMA) is scheduled to take place July 2012.
Over the years, gospel musicians, songwriters, producers, distributors and various stakeholders have contributed enormously to the development of the gospel music industry in Ghana. A lot of determination, diligence, consistency and passion have gone into this, and the time is here for these to be officially recognized and rewarded.
According to Joseph Asare Kwabena, CEO, JAKA EVENTS – organizers of the event, “It has become very frustrating for many gospel musicians that the exceptional and diverse talents that abound in gospel music in Ghana in particular have not been accorded the attention needed from the mainstream music gatekeepers”.
This year’s Gospel Award event is quite unique, not only because it is the first of its kind, but because it’s an all-time event, as the categories will span from 1990 to 2012.
